Breakfast Club

1 in 7 kids go to school  hungry

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It sets our children up to concentrate, learn and be at their best. Unfortunately not all children are able to start their day with breakfast at home.

Throughout 2018, Tallarook Primary School will be holding breakfast club on Friday, starting at 8:15am and running for half an hour.

The School Breakfast Club program is an initiative of the Victorian Government in partnership with Foodbank Victoria which delivers healthy breakfast foods to over 500 primary schools across Victoria.

Not only does breakfast club help to improve student learning, engagement and attendance, it also nourishes connections between students, teachers, parents and members of the community who are required to supervise and assist the program through volunteering.

Volunteering at the School Breakfast Club is a fun and rewarding way to play an active role in your community. You will also help ensure students have an opportunity to start their day with a healthy breakfast.

What’s involved?

  • Volunteers assist with setting up the breakfast area
  • Serving breakfast to students
  • Cleaning up and washing dishes
  • Volunteers also provide valuable social interaction for the students
